To become a volunteer

Opportunities

Board of Directors

Elected members set the direction, plans and goals for the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County. They contribute and work to raise operating funds by utilizing personal expertise, skills, resources and time to promote the growth and strength of the Society.

Education Services

Speakers Bureau volunteers participate in activities and events to educate and raise public awareness about Alzheimer's disease. (Training Required)
Support Group volunteers facilitate support groups that offer community resource information, education, emotional support and coping skills to caregivers. (Training Required)

Fundraising Events

Help raise awareness and needed financial support by participating in various fundraising events. Volunteers assist with all aspects of the event including planning, public relations, preparation work and day of the event assistance.
• Walk for Memories – January
• Hammond Golf Tournament – August

Office/Administration

Assist the office manager with various functions including: memorial donations, newsletter mailouts, photocopying & assembling documents, and data entry.

Peer Support

Help alleviate caregivers’ stress of by talking to caregivers when they call. Answer questions, provide emotional support, help create effective caregiving techniques and refer individuals to community services. (Training Required)
