or family members. They may be "in honour" donations, including
birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, Bar Mitzvahs, Bat Mitzvahs or any
special occasion. When a donation is made, the Alzheimer Society sends
out a card to the family or individual that is being honoured to acknowledge
your generous donation.
In
Memory
Tribute
gifts also include "in memory" donations which honour the
deceased and their family with a lasting and meaningful contribution
to the Alzheimer Society of Ottawa
and Renfrew County.
When a memorial donation is made, the Alzheimer Society sends out a
card to the next-of-kin acknowledging that our chapter has received
a contribution in memory of their loved one.

A
Reminder to Donors
Alzheimer Society of Ottawa
and Renfrew County
Does
Not Canvass Door-to-Door or Make Phone Solicitations
The Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and
Renfrew County
would like to remind the general public that it does not canvass for funds
door to door or through phone solicitations.
Ottawa
is blessed with many generous and committed donors. Unfortunately, there
are also those who take advantage of people’s generosity. Giving
is important but we encourage donors to donate wisely. If you choose to
give at the door, we encourage you to ask the following questions:
•
Does the organization have a Revenue Canada charitable registration number
and will I receive an official receipt for income tax purposes?
• What does the organization do and how will my donation directly
benefit people?
• How can I obtain additional information?
• Where is your office located?
Ways
to protect yourself:
•
Never give credit card information to any organization with which you
are not familiar
• Do not send cash through the mail
• Always write cheques to the organization – not the individual
collecting the money
• Obtain an official receipt
The
Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and Renfrew
County
would like to take this opportunity to thank our community's generous
supporters for their donations.

Renfrew County

The Alzheimer Society of Ottawa and
Renfrew County
